As Weston McKennie’s future at Juventus remains uncertain, the club has reportedly renewed their interest in Benfica midfielder Florentino Luís, who could become his replacement in the squad.
Juventus are undergoing major changes this summer, starting with the arrival of Igor Tudor as head coach.
With a shift in tactical preferences and the need to restructure the team, several players, including McKennie, may be heading for the exit.
The American midfielder has lost his regular spot in the lineup, with Tudor favoring Khephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli in midfield.
Contract extension talks with McKennie have also stalled, and the club is reportedly considering offloading him to create space and reduce the wage bill.
Juventus have set their sights on Florentino Luís as a more economical and tactical fit.
The 25-year-old currently earns around €1.6 million per season at Benfica and is said to be open to joining Juventus for around €2.6 million annually still less than McKennie’s current €2.5 million salary plus the raise he is requesting.
Florentino, a product of Benfica’s youth system, has grown into a key first-team player.
Known for his defensive discipline and positioning, he excels in shielding the backline a quality Juventus see as vital in stabilizing their midfield.
Benfica reportedly value Florentino between €35-40 million, with his contract running until June 2027.
However, the Lisbon-based club is open to negotiating the transfer fee and payment terms to help make the deal happen.
Florentino’s presence would offer Juventus a solid, tactically aware midfielder capable of supporting attacking transitions and offering better defensive coverage.
