Juventus getting closer to two defensive signings.

Juventus have a need for defenders in January after selling off Dean Huijsen in January and loaning out Daniele Rugani, Tiago Djalo and Tarik Muharemovic in the summer. Two ACL injuries threw another spanner into the works with injuries from Bremer and Juan Cabal.

Juventus are now after two defenders to sign to boost the defence and help a top four push. The first name Juventus will hope to tick off is Ronald Arajuo from Barcelona. Juventus are hoping for a loan to buy deal to bring the Uruguayan centre back to Turin.

The original loan to buy deal was set to be a total of 30 million with loan fees and bonuses. Now this has been knocked back by Barcelona as they want something closer to 40-50 million. Barcelona could reject the deal for another reason though.

Barcelona played in the Spanish Super Cup final is Saudi yesterday in a 5-2 win against Real Madrid. In this game Arajuo had to come in, at the 28th minute because of an injury picked up by Inigo Martinez.

This injury could mean that Barca keep Arajuo even though he has already told Juventus he wants to join. But if he does end up coming to Turin, Juventus want to finish the deal in the next 48 hours, this is so he is available to play against AC Milan.

The second defender Juventus is looking to bring in is a lot closer then Arajuo is Alberto Costa from Vitoria Guimaraes. Giovanni Albanese is reporting that Juventus has had a bid for 12 million euros accepted for him to join Juventus.

Now Juventus has to start talking around personal deals with Costa has to start. According to Fabrizio Romano these talks have begun with his agents and so far, they look very promising to bring him to Juventus. A lot of people don’t know a lot around Costa, but he stands at 6 foot 1 the same height as Juan Cabal.

He has a very good technical ability getting forward a lot with being in the 99th percentile for successful take-ons compared to other defenders. This works in Mottas system because he likes dropping a defensive midfielder to make a back three with the wingers pushing up.
