Legendary Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli is reportedly being considered for a return to the club this time as part of Igor Tudor’s coaching staff ahead of the 2025/26 Serie A season.

Barzagli, now 44, is a household name among Bianconeri fans, having spent eight and a half seasons at Juventus.

During that time, he helped the club secure eight consecutive Serie A titles and four Coppa Italia trophies, forming part of one of the most formidable defensive lines in Italian football history.

After retiring at the end of the 2018/19 season, Barzagli briefly joined Maurizio Sarri’s staff in 2019. However, that coaching stint proved short-lived, as he stepped away from the bench after a single season, citing a lack of satisfaction with the experience.

Now, Barzagli is being closely evaluated for a potential return to Juventus, this time under the leadership of Igor Tudor.

Tudor, who took over mid-season to replace Thiago Motta, has now been confirmed as head coach for the upcoming campaign by newly-appointed General Director Damien Comolli.

With his role cemented, Tudor is expected to build a more complete and experienced technical team.

The Croatian coach will continue working with his longtime assistant Ivan Javorcic, while Tomislav Rogic remains in charge of goalkeeping duties.

Barzagli’s decision may be influenced by the presence of Giorgio Chiellini, his former teammate and close friend, who has just been appointed Director of Football Strategy at Juventus.

The two shared the pitch for years and their bond could play a decisive role in convincing Barzagli to rejoin the Bianconeri project.

Interestingly, Barzagli previously turned down an offer to join Massimiliano Allegri’s staff in 2021, opting instead for a role with the Italian national youth teams. He worked with Italy’s U15 to U21 squads as a technical collaborator until 2023.

As of now, no official confirmation has been made regarding Barzagli’s return. However, club insiders believe his experience, leadership, and deep understanding of the Juventus philosophy could be a major asset to Tudor’s technical team.

Fans will be watching closely as the Bianconeri reshape their staff and squad ahead of what promises to be a pivotal season.
