As the summer transfer window gains momentum, Juventus are working behind the scenes at Continassa to shape a competitive squad for the 2025/26 season.
Portuguese full-back Nuno Tavares has emerged as a top priority for head coach Igor Tudor.
Tavares, who was recently permanently signed by Lazio following a loan spell from Arsenal, is once again attracting attention from the Bianconeri.
Tudor is already familiar with the 24-year-old, having coached him during their time together at Olympique Marseille in the 2022–23 season.
The Portuguese defender was previously on Juventus’ shortlist during Cristiano Giuntoli’s tenure, and now his profile fits perfectly into Tudor’s tactical plans.
Tudor’s 3-4-2-1 formation places high demands on wing-backs, particularly in terms of physical strength and offensive output.
Tavares’ attributes align with these needs. Despite battling some injuries last season, he still registered nine assists across Serie A and the Europa League, showcasing his potential as an explosive and creative force on the left flank.
Described as a powerful runner who can break lines and create numerical superiority, Tavares is considered an ideal fit for Tudor’s dynamic and physical system.
While no formal negotiations have been opened with Lazio, Juventus have begun collecting details and evaluating possibilities. Lazio president Claudio Lotito, known for being a tough negotiator, is unlikely to let Tavares leave cheaply.
Juventus might offer technical counterparts to ease a potential deal with young talent Mbangula named as one possible inclusion.
Tavares is just one piece of the puzzle. After extending Tudor’s contract until 2027, Juventus are aiming to reinforce the squad with at least four key additions.
Midfield powerhouse Ederson and Marseille captain Leonardo Balerdi remain top targets for the midfield and defensive lines, respectively.
Though operating with discretion, Juventus appear to be strategic and decisive in their approach — with Nuno Tavares being a genuine objective in the club’s summer rebuild.
