Juventus offered a chance to sign Chelsea youngster on loan until summer

Juventus is exploring the possibility of acquiring Chelsea’s versatile defender Renato Veiga during the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo.

The 21-year-old Portuguese player, who joined Chelsea from FC Basel in July 2024 for €10 million, has been offered to the Bianconeri on a dry loan basis, with Chelsea primarily seeking assurances of regular playing time for Veiga.

Veiga’s adaptability allows him to function both as a central defender and a defensive midfielder, making him a valuable asset for teams seeking to bolster their defensive options.

His left-footedness adds an extra layer of appeal for Juventus, who currently lack a left-sided defender in their squad.

Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Veiga has accumulated 17 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals and an assist in the UEFA Conference League. Additionally, he has become a regular for the Portugal national team.

Napoli has also expressed interest in Veiga, considering him a potential addition to their defensive lineup. However, Chelsea’s recent injuries in defense may influence their decision to let Veiga depart, even on a temporary basis.

Manager Enzo Maresca views Veiga as an important player, which could further complicate any potential move.

Juventus, dealing with injuries to key defenders Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal, is in urgent need of defensive reinforcements.

The opportunity to secure Veiga on a loan deal without a significant financial commitment aligns with their current transfer strategy.

The club’s management is evaluating this option, considering the player’s potential to provide immediate support to their backline.

Beyond Veiga, Juventus has identified additional defensive targets. Reports indicate that Barcelona’s Ronald Araújo has given his approval for a potential move to Turin.

The Uruguayan defender, recently returned from injury, could join Juventus on a loan deal, pending Barcelona’s final decision. Another name on Juventus’s radar is Kevin Danso of French club Lens.

The Austrian center-back has delivered consistent performances in Ligue 1, capturing the attention of top European clubs, including Juventus, who are contemplating a move to enhance their defensive options.

The urgency for defensive reinforcements at Juventus is heightened by the potential departure of Danilo.
