Nottingham Forest have taken a significant step toward signing Douglas Luiz from Juventus, with multiple reports in Italy confirming the midfielder has agreed personal terms with the Premier League side.

Forest are currently leading the race for the 27-year-old Brazilian, who joined Juventus from Aston Villa. Over the weekend, Forest’s sporting director Edu Gasper is personally involved in efforts to bring Luiz to the City Ground.

That negotiations between Forest and Juventus are ongoing. Luiz has already given the green light to a move and is prepared to sign a five-year contract worth €2.5 million per season.

However, a deal between the clubs has yet to be finalised. Nottingham Forest have reportedly tabled an offer of €30 million €10 million short of Juventus’ €40 million asking price.

Additionally, Forest are said to prefer an initial loan with an option to buy, while Juventus are insisting on a mandatory purchase clause.

Despite the differences, optimism remains high that an agreement will be reached.

Juventus are reportedly keen to sell Luiz in order to fund a move for Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand, with the club’s general manager Damien Comolli keen to push the deal forward.
