Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz has reportedly made a desperate attempt to leave the Turin club this summer by offering himself to arch-rivals Inter Milan, but the move was swiftly rejected.

The 27-year-old Brazilian, who joined Juventus last season from Aston Villa for a reported €50 million, endured a disappointing debut campaign.

Despite early opportunities under Thiago Motta, new manager Igor Tudor has made it clear that Luiz does not feature in his tactical plans.

Tensions escalated further on Thursday when Luiz failed to report for the club’s first day of pre-season without receiving formal permission  a move that could see him fined and disciplined internally.

His absence signaled a final breakdown in his relationship with the Bianconeri.

In a bold move, Luiz’s representatives reportedly contacted Inter Milan, Juventus’ biggest rivals, to propose a potential transfer. A meeting between the player’s camp and Inter officials did take place.

However, Inter declined the offer, citing no room in their current squad for the former Manchester City youth product. The Nerazzurri are not planning to make midfield additions at this stage.

Despite the setback in Italy, Luiz still has options. Premier League sides including Everton, West Ham, and Nottingham Forest are said to be monitoring the situation and are open to signing him on an initial loan deal.

Luiz himself is reportedly keen on a return to Aston Villa, where he enjoyed the most stable period of his career. Whether the Birmingham-based club is open to a reunion remains to be seen.

Luiz’s Juventus career appears all but over, with both the club and the player determined to part ways as soon as possible.

His omission from Tudor’s plans and disciplinary issues make his departure likely within this transfer window.
