Juventus are reportedly preparing a bold move to sign Viktor Gyokeres, taking advantage of the growing uncertainty around the striker’s future as talks with Arsenal stall and the player rules out a move to Manchester United.
Gyokeres, who had a remarkable season with Sporting CP scoring 54 goals in 52 matches is one of the hottest names on the market this summer. The 27-year-old Swede is widely expected to leave Portugal, but where he lands remains a mystery.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, Manchester United held discussions with the striker’s camp but were informed that Gyokeres had “officially” turned down the opportunity to reunite with former coach Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
Arsenal had emerged as the frontrunner, with Gyokeres reportedly preferring a move to the Emirates Stadium. However, negotiations between the Gunners, the player, and Sporting have hit a frustrating standstill.
That impasse may now open the door for Juventus. Corriere dello Sport claims that the Serie A giants have begun talks with Gyokeres’ representatives and are preparing a lucrative contract offer worth £11 million per year to tempt the striker to Turin.
The Bianconeri, who finished fourth in Serie A last season and secured Champions League qualification, are looking to strengthen their attacking options.
Dusan Vlahovic was their top scorer in the 2024/25 season with 15 goals in all competitions far behind Gyokeres’ output.
With Arsenal dragging their feet and Manchester United out of the race, Juventus appear ready to make their move and hijack the deal.
Sporting CP are likely to demand a significant transfer fee for their star man, who still has several years left on his contract.
However, with interest cooling from his Premier League suitors, Juventus may find themselves in a stronger bargaining position.
This could become one of the most dramatic transfer battles of the summer especially if Arsenal return to the table or another European giant enters the fray.
