Juventus-Spezia: Match preview and probable starting XI

Juventus face Spezia on Sunday evening after winning against Fiorentina at the very end of the match in Coppa Italia on Tuesday. Unfortunatly for the Bianconeri, lots of players are still out injured. The game has become even more important since Atalanta, who are competing for a top four spot with Juve, lost to Roma. Max Statman gives you a match preview, which also includes some quotes from Max Allegri’s press conference.

Max Allegri confirmed that Paulo Dybala, Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro and Mattia De Sciglio are all unavailable for tomorrow’s match. Dybala was thought to be back for Sunday’s match, but it’s rumoured that he has sustained a new injury. Leonardo Bonucci is a doubt: “He has been playing even when he’s not been 100 percent”, Allegri said. Kaio Jorge and Weston McKennie are injured for a longer periode of time. Denis Zakaria will also not play the next couple of games.

There’s also some good news coming from J Medical, as Federico Bernardeschi is now back and available. That gives Allegri more options up front and in midfield. “We have some players back and also some U23 players in the squad who are good”, Allegri stated on Saturday. Miretti, Soulé and Aké, who started against Fiorentina, could feature from the bench.

Daniele Rugani “will probably start”, as Allegri himself said. He’s expcted to partner Matthijs De Ligt in the centre of defence. Max Statman anticipates that Juventus are going to play with a back four, so that means that Rugani will technically replace the injured De Sciglio. Even though the coach was “thinking” about putting Dusan Vlahovic on the bench, the Serbian striker should start.

Marley Aké started in Florence, but Juan Cuadrado could play instead of the Frenchman. Allegri said he was happy with Moise Kean’s performances, but Alvaro Morata should come into the starting eleven in his place. Mattia Perin will be back on the bench and Wojciech Szczesny returns to his position between the posts.

Max Statman’s expected lineup (4-3-3): Szczesny; Danilo, De Ligt, Rugani, Pellegrini; Locatelli, Arthur, Rabiot; Cuadrado, Vlahovic, Morata.

Juventus have only played Spezia 4 times at home and only have a 25 percent win ratio. The Bianconeri won 1 match, drew twice and lost once. When Juventus visited La Spezia earlier this season, it was a thriller. Goals by Moise Kean, Federico Chiesa and Matthijs de Ligt gave Juventus the edge in a 3-2 victory.
