Juventus are preparing for the season’s first Derby d’Italia, one of the biggest games in Italian football. This Saturday evening, they face rivals Inter Milan in Turin.

The match continues a rivalry that started back in 1909 and brings together the two most successful clubs in Serie A history.

Juventus have started the new season strongly under their new coach Igor Tudor. They beat Parma and Genoa in their opening two games, keeping clean sheets in both matches.

With six points from six, the Bianconeri are currently joint top of the Serie A table along with Napoli, Cremonese, and Roma. The strong defense and quick adaptation to Tudor’s style have given many fans belief that Juventus can compete for the Scudetto this year.

Inter, on the other hand, had a mixed start. They opened with a 5-0 win against Torino, showing their attacking strength.

However, they suffered a surprising 2-1 home defeat to Udinese in their second game. This loss has already put pressure on new manager Cristian Chivu, who came in after keeping Parma in Serie A last season.

The international break gave Inter two weeks to reorganize and focus on this crucial derby. Chivu knows this match could be key for their title challenge.

Head-to-Head

When looking at past meetings, Juventus have a clear advantage at home. The Bianconeri have lost only once in their last 11 league games against Inter at the Allianz Stadium.

Their most recent meeting in Turin ended with a Juventus win. Last season’s clashes between the two sides were memorable: a 4-4 thriller in Milan in October, and a narrow 1-0 Juventus victory in February.

Team News

Coach Tudor has some decisions to make in attack. Jonathan David has made a bright start, while Dusan Vlahovic, despite ongoing contract issues, has also scored in both appearances this season coming off the bench.

New signing Lois Openda offers another option up front. On the injury front, Francisco Conceicao is uncertain after leaving international duty with a muscle issue, while midfielder Fabio Miretti is struggling with a thigh problem.

Andrea Cambiaso remains suspended, so Joao Mario and Filip Kostic will likely fight for the wing-back roles. Kalulu and Weston McKennie could also provide alternatives.

Inter Milan

Inter may hand a debut to new signing Manuel Akanji, who could replace Yann Bisseck in defense.

Other summer recruits — Luiz Henrique, Andy Diouf, and Ange Bonny — are available but may start on the bench. In attack, Marcus Thuram has already scored twice this season and will be looking to continue his good form.

Captain Lautaro Martinez, however, has struggled against Juventus in the past, managing only two goals in 14 league appearances against them.

Possible Starting Lineups

Juventus: Di Gregorio; Gatti, Bremer, Kelly; Kalulu, Thuram, Locatelli, Mario; Koopmeiners, Yildiz; Vlahovic.

Inter Milan: Sommer; Akanji, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Sucic, Dimarco; Thuram, Martinez.
