Juventus are set to take on Empoli in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. A win would see Juventus advance to the semifinals and face Thiago Motta’s former side, Bologna.
The Coppa Italia is the only competition Juventus remain in after being knocked out of the Champions League by Dutch side PSV.
This means the game will be taken fairly seriously, as silverware in Thiago Motta’s first season would be beneficial to his job security, especially considering the league title is all but out of reach for this Juventus side.
However, since it is a cup game, there will be changes to the lineup. Mattia Perin is set to start once again; he hasn’t played in a while since Michele Di Gregorio picked up form.
Andrea Cambiaso will finally be fit enough to play from kickoff again. This comes after he was forced to be substituted in the 10th minute of the second leg against PSV.
Teun Koopmeiners will be dropped, to the delight of most fans, as he has been very poor this season. Khéphren Thuram will get a chance to earn his starting role again.
Randal Kolo Muani and Dusan Vlahović will both start on the pitch for the first time. However, Juventus will still line up in Thiago Motta’s preferred 4-2-3-1 shape, with Kolo Muani playing on the left and Nico González on the right.
The full lineup is
Mattia Perin
Andrea Cambiaso, Federico Gatti, Llyod Kelly, Timothy Weah
Manuel Locatelli, Khepren Thuram
Randal Kolo Muani, Weston Mckennie, Nico Gonzalez
Dusan Vlahovic
