Juventus took on AC Milan at the San Siro yesterday in the midst of an injury crisis. This left Juventus with no viable striker and having to play Mckennie and Koopmeiners in a sort of 9.5 role. This and a lack of attacking flair led to a bore all draw.
Khperen Thuram took out man of the match for both teams not that it is much to boast about. Personally I thought Nico Savona was best on. It was a boring slow game which has become a tradition in this clash of two of the biggest Serie A teams.
Michele Di Gregorio – 6: Hard to give Di Gregorio a positive or negative rating today as he only faced a singular shot on target. As well he was rarely involved in build-up as Milan would sit deep and let Juventus bring the game to them.
Nico Savona – 8.3: My man of the match today he took Leao out of the game. This stopped most of the attacking threat of AC Milan and even when Pulisic came on he kept his cool. I would have liked if he was more involved in build-up, however.
Pierre Kalulu – 6.7: Kalulu was the weaker of the two defenders today but still had a strong game. Morata was in a false 9 and didn’t hold much of a presence and he worked well on the build-up even if it didn’t lead to much.
Federico Gatti – 7.2: Gatti was the strongest centre back and helped clear a lot of the plays from Milan but looked a bit rushed on the ball at certain points in time.
Andrea Cambiaso – 6.5: For his standard Cambiaso had a quite game for his standard but still was good defensively. If he made more of his attacking runs it could have been a game changer and created a goal.
Manuel Locatelli – 6.2: Locatelli had a quite game after his first international selection under Spalleti. He could have been less important due to how well Thuram played but they do have some different roles which Loca filled at times.
Khepren Thuram – 8: Thuram won the man of the match award, but I did feel Savona was slightly better. He played an important role progressing the ball up the pitch with his runs up the middle and could have created a goal on a different day.
Chico Conceicao – 7.4: Conceicao was key in getting it up the pitch at the start of game. He would take on a few Milan players on the right wing get past. Then he would play a switch to Yildiz and Cambiaso and open up the pitch.
Kenan Yildiz – 7.6: Yildiz opened the game up at times and looked like our own attacking flair. In the second half he created a few good chances we couldn’t convert on. However, he could have done better against Royal at times.
Weston Mckennie – 5: It was hard t0 know he played if you didn’t loom for him at times. Motta wanted to try something different, and it clearly didn’t work. Weah our Yildiz should have been used up top.
Teun Koopmeiners – 4: Extremely poor he looked out of his depth at all times. Struggled on the ball, pressed in all the wrong places and couldn’t create anything. Should have been taken off at half time in all honsety.
