Juventus vs Roma player ratings.
Juventus played out a goalless draw against AS Roma in Turin to obtain seven points from the first possible times. Juventus struggled to connect with each other which led to poor attacks with a few big chances. The main issues in the team will be improved when the team plays more together.
It was obvious that Juventus had made seven first team signings as some players struggled to play with each other mainly, Nico Gonzalez, Teun Koopmeiners and Francisco Conceicao because of them being signed in the last two weeks and haven’t trained much with the first side.
Defence
Michele Di Gregorio – 6: Another clean sheet for Michele Di Gregorio as he and Juventus get three in a row to start a season for the first time since 2014/15. Roma only had a single shot on target so there was nothing for him to do but be he knew what he had to do on the ball.
Nicolo Savona – 5: Nico was very quiet today and wasn’t quite on the ball as much as last week. He couldn’t get on the ball as much due to Romas pressing system. Long clearance balls where often the choice for Di Gregorio as he struggled to make an impact.
Bremer – 7.5: Bremer had a great game today as he showed his defensive impact once again. He and Gatti stopped nearly almost ever Roma attack, but he did look better. He was also confident on the ball again as he gets used to Motta’s system.
Federico Gatti – 7: Federico Gatti looked showed his leader ships ability again earning him a seven rating as he managed to get a third clean sheet on the row. He was confident on the ball and showed how he can be used under Motta as his best is still to come.
Juan Carbal – 5.5: Juan Carbal was in a similar situation to Nico Savona as he also couldn’t get on the ball. This was because Juventus either went for a quick attack or were forced to use the long ball. He did take care of his defensive needs whenever asked.
Defensive Midfield –
Manuel Locatelli – 6: Manuel Locatelli was a crucial player again but struggled to make an impact. We couldn’t progress the ball well, but he was the best midfield starter before he left. I find it surprising he wasn’t picked for the national team and hope he doesn’t lose his form after the break.
Nicolo Fagioli – 5: Nico Fagioli wasn’t poor, but he was quiet. When we needed him to create play, he didn’t manage to do that. As well he struggled to get involved in the attacks which led to him being taken off in the 67th minute.
Douglas Luiz – 7: Douglas Luiz only played 23 minutes today, but he was one of our best players. When he finally came on, he changed the game. He had so much space on the ball and was so good with the ball. I would like to see him start over Fagioli next game if Thuram isn’t available.
Attacking Midfield
Andrea Cambiaso – 5.5: Andrea Cambiaso struggled to make an impact today. He was one of the better players at progressing the ball, but he couldn’t make much of an impact. He struggled on the attacking side of the ball and should be moved back to a full back role.
Samuel Mbangula – 4.5: I don’t want to be tough on Mbangula but since coming up from Next Gen he has been great. But in the 45 minutes he played today he was very poor he struggled to get anywhere near the ball. As he plays more first team minutes he will learn how to get involved in these losing games as he plays more games.
Kenan Yildiz – 6.5: Kenan Yildiz was getting the ball and progressing the ball when the long ball was used. When the ball was sent long to Vlahovic, he was ready at his feet to get the ball and create a quick attack. He could have got more involved when the ball was in the deep build up by dropping back.
Francisco Conceicao – 7: Chico Conceicao had a promising Juventus debut as he looked on to break the goal drought. In his debut he was demanding the ball and trying to cut inside and create chances and could have easily led to a goal if he played the full 90.
Teun Koopmeiners – 5: Koopmeiners finally made his Juventus debut after coming on at half time. He looked very out of place, but I don’t think he should have been played. He didn’t look ready and didn’t know Motta’s system. I do believe that after the international break he will be better.
Weston Mckennie – 5.5: Mckennie has been getting a lot a hate for his game, but I don’t think he was half bad. He was in random positions which is poor, but he made all the right passes. But he does need to improve to get another extension.
Attack
Dusan Vlahovic – 6.5: Vlahovic is hard player to rate because he created and important in most of our chances. But he didn’t do a lot with the ball and struggled to make any serious attacks to get our goal.
Nico Gonzalez – 4: I hated how he played so much he comes on with ten minutes to go. We need a goal, and he is jogging, most other players have played 80 minutes. While he has only played a couple he needed to go again. What are you doing use your energy and put some effort in to get the goal.
