Fabrizio Romano provides fresh update on Kolo Muani amid Newcastle talk reports
Recent reports suggested Newcastle United have opened talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani as part of their urgent search for new attacking reinforcements.
The French international, who joined PSG for £76 million but struggled for consistent playing time, was said to be a key target for the Magpies following several failed transfer attempts this summer.
Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg had reported that Newcastle entered negotiations with PSG over the 26-year-old striker, who impressed on loan at Juventus earlier this year by scoring eight goals and reestablishing himself as one of Europe’s most promising forwards.
This interest reportedly came as Newcastle faced setbacks with other targets, including RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko—who opted to join Manchester United—and Premier League rivals securing players such as Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Bryan Mbeumo, and Hugo Ekitike.
With Alexander Isak potentially departing for Liverpool and Callum Wilson leaving for West Ham, Newcastle’s need for attacking options grew urgent.

However, Fabrizio Romano has now clarified that Newcastle sources deny any negotiations or approach for Randal Kolo Muani have taken place.
According to Romano, the club actively involved in talks to sign Kolo Muani was, is, and will remain Juventus. Kolo Muani himself reportedly wants to return to Juventus, and discussions between Juventus and PSG are ongoing.
The French forward, who boasts nine goals in 31 appearances for the French national team, offers pace, technique, and versatility to play either as a central striker or supporting attacker—qualities Juventus are keen to leverage once more.
While Newcastle continue to explore other options, including monitoring FC Porto’s young talent Samu Aghehowa, it is clear that any hopes of bringing Kolo Muani to St. James’ Park have been firmly shut down by club insiders.
As Newcastle prepare for a new Premier League campaign following a strong 2024/25 season—finishing fifth and winning their first major trophy in 70 years—their ambitions to strengthen the squad and secure Champions League football remain high.
