Liverpool in transfer battle with Everton and West Ham for Juventus star
Liverpool have entered the race to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, joining fellow Premier League sides Everton and West Ham United in a competitive pursuit.
The 27-year-old Brazilian is reportedly eager to leave the Italian giants after falling out of favor last season.
Luiz did not report for Juventus’ pre-season training, further signaling his intent to secure a move away from Turin.
Juventus, unhappy with his actions, are considering disciplinary measures and are open to selling him for around £35 million.
After missing out on Martin Zubimendi last summer who has since agreed to join Arsenal -Liverpool refrained from strengthening their midfield, instead investing nearly £270 million elsewhere on the squad. Their current focus remains on breaking the British transfer record to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
However, with questions still surrounding depth in midfield, Luiz has now emerged as a viable option.
Known for his versatility, the former Aston Villa star can operate as a deep-lying playmaker, a box-to-box midfielder, or even in a more advanced role.
Everton and West Ham are also monitoring Luiz’s situation closely.
Everton, thin in midfield options, are keen to reinforce under manager David Moyes.
Luiz’s Premier League experience and tactical intelligence make him an attractive option for the Toffees.
West Ham added Guido Rodríguez and Carlos Soler last season to bolster their midfield ranks.
However, Rodríguez struggled to make an impact, and Soler has since returned to PSG following his loan spellleaving space for a player of Luiz’s caliber.
Douglas Luiz previously impressed during his stint with Aston Villa, earning a reputation as a reliable and technically gifted midfielder.
Despite his limited minutes at Juventus, interest in him remains high, and a return to England could reignite his career.
With the transfer window heating up, Luiz’s next move could shape the midfield dynamics of any of these three Premier League clubs.
