Milan ready to offer defender for Vlahović but Juventus want someone else
AC Milan are reportedly working on a potential swap deal as they look to reunite Massimiliano Allegri with his former pupil, Dušan Vlahović, currently out of favor at Juventus.
The Serbian striker, now 25 years old, was one of the first players to arrive at Continassa for pre-season training on Thursday morning.
However, despite his early return, it’s clear that he is no longer part of the Bianconeri’s future plans.
Juventus are keen to offload Vlahović, especially with his annual gross salary rising to €24 million as he enters the final year of his contract.
Having already signed Jonathan David as a replacement, Juventus are also hoping to finalize a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Randal Kolo Muani, further reducing Vlahović’s chances of staying.
In the meantime, Milan have emerged as a serious contender for Vlahović’s signature largely thanks to Allegri’s presence.
The Rossoneri are actively searching for a new striker, as Santiago Giménez remains the only natural center-forward at the club.
Milan are considering offering a defender to Juventus in exchange for Vlahović, instead of paying the full transfer fee.
Juventus, however, are hoping to receive at least €20 million to avoid recording a capital loss. Since Milan are reluctant to meet that figure and cover Vlahović’s high wages, a swap deal could reduce the overall cost.
The identity of the defender to be offered could be a major sticking point between the two clubs.
The report suggests that Igor Tudor, Milan’s new manager, would prefer to keep Strahinja Pavlović, as he’s interested in working with the 24-year-old Serbian.
Allegri also likes Pavlović and would prefer to keep him at Continassa, making a swap unlikely in that direction.
Instead, Milan are expected to offer Malick Thiaw, a 23-year-old German defender who is not viewed as a first-choice player by Tudor.
If the deal goes through, Thiaw would reunite with Pierre Kalulu, who made the same switch last summer.
However, it remains to be seen whether all parties including the players—will agree to the terms and complete the move.
