Juventus vs Benfica: Match Preview

Juventus will take on Benfica at home in the lovely third kit. This game still has some meaning of Juventus position in the Champions League table because we can still earn a top 8 position, but it is still very unlikely.

Juventus are only one point off the top 8 places, but there 10 teams in front of us so Juventus will need a lot of result to go their way. But we can still earn an advantage. If Juventus finish top half of the round of 16 playoff standings, they will have the second game at home which will be crucial.

Juventus Predicted XI

Mattia Perin (GK) – Mattia Perin will play in goals again this season, he hasn’t featured a lot this season since the pickup of form by Michele Di Gregorio, but he has shown his quality especially in the Champions League.

Nico Savona (RB) – Savona will have to start at right back once again even with the signings of Alberto Costa and Renato Viega. This is because they can’t be registered for the Champions League until the knock-out stage.

Pierre Kalulu & Federico Gatti (CB) – Gatti and Kalulu will have to start at centre back together once again, Juventus still hasn’t signed another centre back in this window to provide them some support. Not that is relevant because they wouldn’t be allowed to feature in the champions league.

Weston Mckennie (LB) – Weston Mckennie will have to start at left back because Andrea Cambiaso has picked up an ankle injury. He has supposedly carried it for a few games which could explain some of his bad form.

Douglas Luiz – (CDM) – Douglas Luiz will take the reins at CDM once again which he had done in the Torino game. I thought in that game he was one of the best players in that game even with the poor result and Thiago Motta agrees.

Khepren Thuram – (CM) – Khepren Thuram will take position in the centre midfield role once again, as he has shown his class. His way of progressing the ball reminds me of Paul Pogba, but Thuram is stiffer in his style of dribbling.

Kenan Yildiz – (CAM) – Kenan Yildiz will take the role of the 10 instead of Teun Koopmeiners who has been there most the time but has finally been dropped by Thiago Motta after plenty of poor performances.

Samuel Mbangula (LW) – Samuel Mbangula will start on the left-hand side once again after picking up= form from the Super Cup game against AC Milan. I feel that he is due a goal and it might come today against Benfica.

Francisco Conceicao – (RW) – Francisco Conceicao will be back to starting after his injury on the right-hand side. He dribbling ability will help create a sense of flair that has been lacking recently for Juventus.

Dusan Vlahovic – (ST) – Dusan Vlahovic will return into the starting lineup after being benched for Randal Kolo Muani. However, Muani can’t feature in the Champions League until the knockout stages.
