Ajax are closing in on an agreement with Juventus to loan Mohamed Ihattaren for one and a half a year, Telegraaf reports.

The Dutch champions also talked about an option to buy with the Bianconeri. It looked like Ihattaren would join FC Utrecht, who also wanted to loan him for a year and a half, but now he’s on his way to Amsterdam.

Ihattaren told Telegraaf last week that he wanted to join a top club in The Netherlands and that he never wanted to leave his home country. There were talks with FC Utrecht, but journalist Mike Verweij reports that Ihattaren is on his way to Ajax after an extensive converstion with coach Erik ten Hag. He and director of football affairs Marc Overmars have shown that they were charmed by the young midfielder earlier.

Ihattaren joined Juventus last summer for €1.9M and immediately went on loan to Sampdoria. That wasn’t a big success. Ihattaren left Italy and didn’t play a single minute for the club from Genoa. A move to Ajax would certainly raise some eyebrows in the Netherlands, as they’re the biggest rival of his old club PSV Eindhoven.
