Napoli suffered a blow during their match against Milan when Matteo Politano and Mario Rui were forced to leave the pitch due to injuries.

The Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti, was compelled to make two substitutions in the first half of the game, which Napoli lost 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Matteo Politano sustained a twisted ankle after a tackle with Milan’s Theo Hernandez and left the field in pain with a visible bandage. On the other hand, Mario Rui seemed to have taken a knock, having been treated with ice by Napoli’s medical staff just moments before collapsing on the pitch.

Both players left the Stadio Maradona on crutches, with Politano appearing particularly worried about his condition.

Napoli released an official statement regarding the injuries sustained by the two players: “Matteo Politano and Mario Rui, who were substituted in the first half of the match against Milan, respectively suffered a twisted ankle and a contusion to the right knee. Rrahmani, who left the pitch at the end of the game, suffered a contusion to his right foot.”

The Napoli manager had to make two substitutions in the first half of the game, and he replaced the injured players with Lozano and Olivera. After a brief warm-up on the sidelines, the two substitutes were quickly introduced into the game.

The Napoli statement on the condition of the players further revealed that Politano and Rrahmani could be sidelined for up to seven to ten matches. Politano is almost certain to miss the big match against Juventus, while the defender’s presence is also in doubt.

However, the most significant concern is Mario Rui, who is likely to be out of action for at least four weeks due to a fracture of the head of the right fibula.
