La Repubblica: Juventus agree a deal to sign Ronald Araujo

Juventus is on the verge of securing a significant defensive reinforcement with the acquisition of Ronald Araújo from Barcelona.

According to La Repubblica, the Uruguayan defender has agreed to the move, and both clubs have reached an agreement for his transfer.

Araújo, 25, has been a pivotal figure in Barcelona’s defense, amassing 151 appearances, 8 goals, and 6 assists since joining the club.

His current contract with the Catalan side extends until 2026. However, recent developments have paved the way for his departure.

Barcelona received favorable news when the Superior Council of Sport granted a suspension against La Liga’s decision to exclude Dani Olmo and Pau Victor from the squad, allowing these players to participate pending a final decision.

This ruling has enabled Barcelona to consider Araújo’s exit. The agreement between Juventus and Barcelona is reported to be an initial loan deal with an obligatory purchase option.

Araújo is expected to arrive in Turin next week to undergo medical examinations and finalize his contract with the Bianconeri.

His arrival is timely for Juventus, who are seeking to bolster their defense following injuries to key players such as Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal.

Araújo’s strengths in one-on-one situations, aerial duels, and his pace make him a suitable replacement.

This transfer also reflects Juventus’ strategic approach under Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli, who is keen on strengthening the squad in multiple areas.

After securing Araújo, the club may pursue additional defensive reinforcements and explore opportunities to enhance their attacking options.
