Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has come under fire for his attitude during the club’s humiliating loss to Atalanta.
The Bianconeri endured a night to forget, suffering a crushing 4-0 defeat at home, their worst in Serie A since 1967. While the entire team struggled, some players’ performances and behavior were particularly scrutinized Vlahovic being one of them.
Former Juventus and Cesena player Emanuele Giaccherini voiced his disappointment with the Serbian forward’s demeanor on the pitch. Vlahovic has seen his playing time reduced following the arrival of Randal Kolo Muani in January.
Apart from a crucial goal against Cagliari, his contributions have been limited, leaving him out of the starting lineup for most matches.
During Sunday’s game, with Juventus trailing 3-0, coach Thiago Motta introduced Vlahovic as the final substitution, likely hoping for a last-minute impact.
However, instead of a resurgence, the forward’s mistake led to Atalanta’s fourth goal. While attempting a pass, he lost his footing, allowing the opposition to capitalize and further deepen Juventus’ misery.
Giaccherini did not hold back in his criticism, expressing his frustration over Vlahovic’s attitude when entering the game. Speaking on DAZN, as reported by Calciomercato, he remarked, “Vlahovic came on as if he was doing the team a favor.”
Giaccherini, known during his playing days for his work ethic and versatility, emphasized the importance of commitment and a positive approach regardless of playing time.
His comments reflect a broader concern among Juventus supporters regarding the team’s spirit and mentality during tough moments.
With Juventus seeking to recover from this devastating defeat, the focus will now be on whether Vlahovic can regain his form and prove his worth in upcoming fixtures.
