Juventus is facing yet another setback, adding to an already challenging period following their shocking elimination from the Champions League at the hands of PSV Eindhoven.
According to Ilbianconero,The latest concern revolves around Portuguese defender Renato Veiga, who suffered an injury that appears to be more serious than initially expected.
During the match against PSV, Veiga was forced to leave the field after just 12 minutes due to physical discomfort. Subsequent medical examinations conducted at J|Medical revealed a lesion in the gracilis tendon of his right leg.
This unfortunate development means the 21-year-old, who joined Juventus on loan from Chelsea, will be sidelined for an extended period.
Following the medical assessments, Juventus issued a statement regarding Veiga’s condition:
“Renato Veiga, who exited the first half of the match against PSV Eindhoven, underwent diagnostic tests at J|Medical this afternoon. The results confirmed a lesion in the gracilis tendon of his right leg. His recovery timeline will be determined based on symptom progression.”
Although the club has not specified an exact timeframe for Veiga’s return, initial reports suggest he may be out for at least a month.
If his recovery progresses well, the former Basel player could be available for selection again by the end of March, potentially after the international break. However, this remains uncertain and will depend on how he responds to treatment in the coming weeks.
What is certain for now is that Juventus will have to cope without Veiga for several upcoming fixtures, adding to their list of challenges as they navigate the remainder of the season.
