Legendary Italian coach Fabio Capello has credited Thiago Motta for Juventus’ victory over Inter in the Derby d’Italia.
Juventus struggled in the first half as Inter dominated most of the chances, leaving the home crowd at the Allianz Stadium nervous about the outcome. However, despite the pressure, the Nerazzurri failed to capitalize on their opportunities.
After halftime, Juventus took control, launching a series of attacks that led to the game-winning goal. Randal Kolo Muani skillfully created an opening for Francisco Conceição, who calmly finished from close range, securing the crucial victory for the Bianconeri.
For Capello, Motta’s halftime speech played a key role in changing the game.
“We can’t be happy, you win by playing well. We lost many duels, but if we improve in those areas, we have a better chance of winning,” said Motta in a halftime interview with DAZN, as reported by (IlBianconero).
Capello, who has managed top clubs like Juventus, Real Madrid, and the England national team, was impressed by the transformation he saw in the second half.
“I heard Thiago Motta’s words when the team returned to the pitch after the break, and I was struck,” Capello told La Gazzetta dello Sport via (JuventusNews24).
“The Juventus coach probably said the same thing to his players, because in the second half, we saw a completely different Juve more aggressive, brave, dynamic, and determined. Meanwhile, Inter seemed to drop in intensity.”
The former AC Milan and Roma manager also praised the match for its high tempo, comparing it to a Champions League-level encounter.
“It was like a Champions League match a fantastic game played with great intensity, fast and direct football. Both teams deserve credit, but I also appreciated the referee’s approach, allowing the game to flow without unnecessary interruptions.”
