Juventus will face their reserve side, Juventus Next Gen, in a pre-season friendly this Wednesday, August 13, at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, with kick-off set for 18:30.

The match comes just days after the Bianconeri’s 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in Germany and serves as the penultimate test before their final summer fixture against Atalanta on Saturday, August 16.

However, one notable absentee from Igor Tudor’s squad list is Gleison Bremer. The Brazilian defender, a mainstay in the Juve backline, will not be taking part in the intra-squad contest.

According to club sources, the decision is purely precautionary and part of a pre-planned workload management strategy.

There are no injury concerns surrounding the number 3, with the technical staff opting to give him a rest after his involvement in the opening pre-season fixtures.

The aim is to preserve his fitness and ensure he is in peak condition for the start of the competitive campaign.

Bremer has been ever-present in Juventus’ summer preparations so far. He started in both of the team’s previous friendlies — against Reggina and Borussia Dortmund — playing the first half on each occasion before making way for tactical rotations.

These appearances were designed to gradually build his match sharpness without overexerting him in the early stages of pre-season.

The friendly against Juventus Next Gen will instead offer more minutes to other members of the senior squad and give younger players from the club’s development team a chance to impress in a high-profile setting.

With the Atalanta clash just around the corner and the Serie A opener drawing closer, Bremer’s absence from this midweek game is seen as a sensible step to keep one of Juventus’ defensive pillars fresh for the challenges ahead.
