For Federico Gatti, Juventus is the only thing that matters. The 1998-born defender is not considering anything else, despite recent advances from Nottingham Forest.
Advances that would likely have shaken anyone. According to Tuttosport (via Ilbianconero), the English club was ready to offer him a much more lucrative contract than the one proposed by Juventus for his renewal. However, Gatti rejected their approach without hesitation, not even engaging in negotiations.
The turning point was last December’s Golden Boy event, where Nottingham Forest’s president, Evangelos Marinakis, met Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
Forest, currently third in the Premier League behind Liverpool and Arsenal, believed they had found the perfect reinforcement for their defense in Gatti and were willing to put significant financial figures on the table.
However, the Italian defender is entirely focused on his future with the Bianconeri and, most importantly, on the possibility of staying in Turin for a long time.
He has even shared this commitment with his close friends. For this reason, he continues to work alongside his representatives to finalize the details of his contract renewal.
Negotiations with Juventus began in September and have since led to several meetings, eventually resulting in an agreement on the contract’s duration.
The next meeting, scheduled for the end of this month, is expected to finalize the deal, with Gatti set to sign a contract worth €2.5 million per season until 2030.
For the defender, who has become a key pillar of the team, this arrangement is ideal. He has become increasingly essential both on the field and in the locker room, where he serves as a reference point for his teammates.
His leadership qualities have been recognized by Giuntoli, who is determined to make him a true “totem” of Juventus.
Gatti’s importance is also evident to Juventus head coach Thiago Motta. Despite preferring technically skilled center backs who contribute to the buildup play, Motta has come to rely on Gatti’s different skill set, particularly his strength in marking opponents. As mentioned, Gatti has a clear vision for his future.
His ambition is high: to spend his entire career with Juventus and elevate the team further while also aiming for a spot in the Italian national team for the 2026 World Cup. For a player who was competing in the lower divisions just a few years ago, achieving this dream would be the ultimate success.
