Juventus head coach Thiago Motta addressed the media ahead of their crucial Champions League playoff second leg clash against PSV Eindhoven.
With four consecutive victories under their belt, Juventus is looking to secure a spot in the Round of 16, a step that would be significant both competitively and financially.
Motta emphasized the importance of the match, stating, “So far, this is the most important game of our season. We need to deliver a complete performance at the highest level in every aspect technical, physical, and mental to advance to the next stage.”
The Juventus boss provided updates on team selection, confirming that Andrea Cambiaso is fit to play despite a precautionary individual training session.
However, Douglas Luiz remains unavailable. “All players are ready to start the match, and preparing for such a high-level game is not difficult given its significance,” Motta added.
When asked about the team’s strategy, Motta stressed the importance of focus and adaptability. “We need to do everything well always thinking, understanding the game’s momentum, and staying compact when the opposition pushes forward.
Our goal is to be superior in every way. PSV is a strong team, and we must approach the match with the same intensity as we would against elite clubs like PSG or Liverpool.”
Despite knowing that a draw would be enough for Juventus to advance, Motta dismissed any notion of playing for a tie. “We never aim for a draw.
Our mindset is always to win, and we step onto the pitch with that determination. Managing the game comes in the final minutes, but from the start, our objective is clear securing victory through disciplined possession and solid defense. We must earn our qualification by being the better team.”
Motta praised his players’ attitude and commitment, highlighting their strong performance in the recent match against Inter Milan.
“This team never lacks effort or determination, and I am confident they will give their best until the final whistle. We have prepared thoroughly and must execute our game plan flawlessly.”
Discussing young talents like Samuel Mbangula, Motta expressed his confidence in their ability to make an impact. “Every player has a role to play, whether they start or come off the bench.
Mbangula has been working hard and improving, and I trust him to contribute when called upon.”
The Juventus manager acknowledged the pressure that comes with such an important fixture but welcomed the challenge. “Pressure is part of our job.
We are here because we have earned it, and now we must take this opportunity to step forward. The team is motivated, and we are ready to give everything on the pitch.”
With everything at stake, Juventus will aim for a strong performance against PSV, determined to book their place in the Champions League Round of 16.
