Teun Koopmeiners has yet to fully adapt to Thiago Motta’s system at Juventus. The Dutch midfielder, who dazzled fans with his brilliance at Atalanta, seems to have lost his way between Bergamo and Turin.
Despite arriving in the summer for a hefty €60 million fee following an exhausting negotiation with Atalanta who were reluctant to let go of such a gifted player Koopmeiners has struggled to showcase his full potential in a Juventus shirt.
Despite his struggles, Thiago Motta remains adamant about keeping Koopmeiners in his starting lineup, believing he is crucial to the team’s system.
Initially deployed as an attacking midfielder in Motta’s 4-2-3-1 formation, positioned centrally behind the striker, the Dutchman hasn’t yet found his best form. However, tonight’s match against Como could see a tactical shift.
According to Ilbianconero, Motta is considering deploying Koopmeiners in a deeper midfield role, pairing him with either Khephren Thuram or Manuel Locatelli in the double pivot.
This adjustment was already tested in the previous match against Empoli and could become a more permanent solution if it allows Koopmeiners to regain his rhythm.
As Juventus prepares for this crucial fixture, all eyes will be on Motta’s final tactical decision. Will the Dutch maestro thrive in his new role, or will his struggles continue? The answer will unfold tonight on the pitch.
