Only minor steps remain as Timothy Weah to Marseille deal is almost agreed
Olympique de Marseille is on the verge of signing U.S. international winger Timothy Weah from Juventus, Forza Juventus understands. The clubs have reached an understanding, and only final player-related terms remain to be settled.
Timothy Weah’s camp is said to be finalising a few small things between the player and Juventus, but everyone wants the same outcome—Timothy included.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the structure discussed includes a season-long worth €1 million), followed by a €14 million obligation to buy—triggered under certain conditions—with potential €3 million add-on bonuses. Juventus is also said to have retained a sell-on clause in the deal.

At 25, Weah hopes the move will revive his form after a frustrating spell at Juventus. Over two seasons in Turin, he made 78 appearances and logged seven goals and seven assists, largely deployed as a wing‑back or substitute under both Allegri and Tudor.
Despite occasional flashes of promise – notably in the Coppa Italia triumph of 2024 – consistent playing time and his preferred position never materialised.
All signs point to Marseille—under coach Roberto De Zerbi—offering Weah a fresh start in Ligue 1 and a key role within their front line. De Zerbi reportedly values Weah’s versatility and attacking profile, suitable for multiple positions across midfield and wing-back.
Negotiations have not been without friction. Sambague publicly slammed one Juventus executive—widely believed to be Damien Comolli—for alleged obstruction during talks.
Citing an attempt to force Weah into a Premier League move he rejected, Sambague warned that unreasonable demands were delaying completion of a deal both player and Marseille want.
Juventus, meanwhile, appears focused on finalising multiple departures before season start—aiming to cut wage costs and fund new arrivals under financial fair play regulations.
With only contractual fine print standing between the clubs and a completed transfer, sources expect the loan paperwork and medical to be wrapped up within days.
