This year’s summer transfer market is rather dull and boring. I think many Bianconeri fans would agree with me on this one. Juventus will definitely not be signing any De Ligt’s or Ronaldo’s this year; the club simply has no money. The sport has taken a massive toll thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, and football clubs are likely to suffer the financial consequences for years to come.
That said, Juventus’ management need to thoroughly evaluate any potential signings, and will surely avoid the hasty completion of deals – As is evident from the Locatelli transfer saga.
Nonetheless, as uneventful as the current transfer window might seem for us fellow Juventini, there still are a few transfer trails that are worth pursuing, and the main question that needs answering at the moment is:
Who will Allegri’s likely new additions to the squad be?
1. Manuel Locatelli
Potential arrival number 1, is none other than Mr. Manuel Locatelli. Attracting interest from Premier League side, Arsenal, the Sassuolo midfielder is the man in the spotlight for Juve currently. He is sitting in first place on the Bianoneri’s wish list.
It comes as no surprise that Juve are looking for a regista – a footballer capable of playing in front of the defence, with the ability of orchestrating symphonies in the midfield via the execution of Pirlo-esque long and through balls.
Obviously, there is still a long way to go for Locatelli to reach the Maestro’s level of mastery, but no worries, he’s only just turned 23, and he’s got plenty of time on his hands.
2. Miralem Pjanic
Could it be? Will we see the return of Pjanic?
It is a possibility, but for now it seems rather unlikely. For one thing, Pjanic is not getting any younger, and for another, his salary is too high.
Juventus will definitely keep an eye out for the Bosnian, should Aaron Ramsey decide to leave the club. Allegri appreciates Pjanic and it is for this reason that we could see the ex-Roma man return to Turin, on the condition that he would be willing to take a significant wage cut.
3. Kaio Jorge
Following the likes of Neymar, Alex Sandro and Danilo, the 19 year old Brazilian, Kaio Jorge, is ready to take a massive leap and unite with the best, in Europe.
In the 19/20 season, Jorge made 28 senior appearances with Santos in the Brazilian Serie A, in which he scored a total of 4 goals. He also netted 5 goals in 12 games in the Copa Libertadores. Last season, he played 27 games and bagged a total of 8 goals in all competitions, for the club.
Despite reaching an agreement with the player’s entourage regarding Jorge’s potential salary at Juventus, the Italian club has yet to reach an agreement with Santos concerning a possible transfer fee. The player’s contract with Santos expires in December 2021, presenting an opportunity for the Old Lady to sign him on a free in January 2022. However, Santos are much inclined to accept an enticing offer from Benfica, while Milan are still on the prowl.
