Tudor wants Juventus to sign Lazio star
Juventus are actively exploring summer transfer options as the club prepares for a significant overhaul under expected head coach Igor Tudor.
Among the names under consideration is Portuguese wingback Nuno Tavares, who recently joined Lazio on a permanent deal from Arsenal after a strong loan spell.
With Tudor set to remain in charge, Juventus is likely to shift toward a system that relies heavily on wingbacks.
During the 2024–25 season, the Croatian manager had to adapt by using Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah in those roles, despite neither being natural fits.
The squad had previously been built around Thiago Motta’s vision, which contrasts with Tudor’s tactical approach.
As a result, the club must recruit players who align better with Tudor’s system—particularly dynamic fullbacks capable of contributing both offensively and defensively.
Tavares impressed during his loan at Lazio, prompting the Roman club to trigger the purchase option in his Arsenal contract.
However, despite Lazio finalizing the move, they are open to selling him for offers around €11 million.
Juventus are now weighing the opportunity to make an offer, seeing him as a potential upgrade in a role they urgently need to reinforce.
Tavares would fill a key gap in the current squad, offering pace, width, and attacking threat from the left wingback position.
His versatility and physical presence make him an ideal profile for Tudor’s preferred 3-5-2 or 3-4-2-1 formation.
If Juventus moves forward with the deal, the transfer wouldn’t be just about adding depth it could be a decisive step toward making Tudor’s vision a reality in Turin.
