Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo is officially leaving Juventus once again, returning to his boyhood club Gremio on a dry loan deal.

The move marks a homecoming for the 1996-born player, who began his professional journey with the Brazilian side before making the leap to European football.

Juventus and Gremio have reportedly reached a verbal agreement for Arthur’s loan transfer. Barring any last-minute surprises, the deal is expected to be finalized on Friday, August 22, when the final details will be ironed out.

Arthur will join Gremio on a dry loan — a temporary move without a purchase option — running until June 30, 2026. There is no clause for a permanent transfer included in the agreement.

Arthur’s return to Gremio is significant, as he rose through the club’s youth ranks between 2010 and 2015 and played for the senior team until 2018.

His performances in Brazil earned him a transfer to FC Barcelona, and later to Juventus in the summer of 2020 as part of the high-profile swap deal involving Miralem Pjanić.

Arthur is under contract with Juventus until June 30, 2027. However, his time in Turin has been marked by limited impact and recurring loan spells.

Since May 2022, he has not featured in an official match for the Bianconeri. Instead, he has spent time on loan at Liverpool, Fiorentina, and most recently, Girona.

Since joining Juventus, Arthur has made 63 appearances across all competitions, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist. Despite early hopes, his career in Italy never fully took off, leading to repeated moves away from the club in search of form and consistency.

As he prepares to return to Brazil, Arthur hopes to rediscover his rhythm in familiar surroundings — and perhaps write a new chapter of success where it all began.
