Fabio Capello backs Vlahović move to Milan but only on ‘one key’ condition
Former AC Milan coach and Juventus legend Fabio Capello has weighed in on the potential transfer of Dusan Vlahović to Milan stating that a move should be right ‘if Allegri truly wants him’.
Fabio Capello offered clear insights into why the move could make sense for both the player and Rossoneri.
“A transfer to Milan would be right, especially if Allegri wants Vlahović,” Capello stated. “He knows the striker very well, and if the coach believes he fits the team, he’ll have good reasons to be convinced.”
Capello reflected on Vlahović’s Juventus stint and acknowledged the toll of expectations. “From the outside, it appears obvious that Vlahović fell short of his Fiorentina form,” he said.
“I believe this stems largely from the weight of the shirt and a transfer that exceeded €90 million. Dusan got a bit lost. Yet, he still has defined strengths: he is fast, has a lethal left foot and is strong in the air.”

Massimiliano Allegri, former head coach of Juventus interacts with Duaan Vlahovic of Juventus during the UEFA Champions League match.
Despite scoring in Juventus’s recent 2–2 friendly at the Continassa and participating in their training camp in Germany, Vlahović appears increasingly marginalized in the club’s long‑term plans.
The club views his €12 million net annual salary as incompatible with their new financial framework, and discussions with Vlahović’s representatives have indicated that only a substantial offer would trigger a transfer.
AC Milan, eager to reunite Vlahović with Massimiliano Allegri, is the most promising destination. Juventus reportedly values the striker at €20–25 million.
To offset part of the cost, Milan has proposed including Malick Thiaw—valued at roughly €15 million—as a player-plus-cash option. Juventus has thus far declined such an exchange.
Salary remains the key obstacle: Vlahović earns more than Milan’s top earner, and Rossoneri insiders suggest they cannot match such a wage without Juventus subsidizing part of it or agreeing to a structured buyout.

Massimiliano Allegri, former head coach of Juventus issues Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus some instructions during the Serie A match.
Under current leadership, Juventus is shifting toward younger, more dynamic forwards like Jonathan David and Randal Kolo Muani, making Vlahović’s powerful but rigid profile less essential in Igor Tudor’s system.
“If Allegri truly wants him, Milan should take him. At these prices, there isn’t much better available. Now it’s about whether the player can perform without the pressure that weighed him down in Turin. San Siro can be intimidating,” Capello concluded.
For Vlahović, the move represents another chance to reignite his career under a coach who trusts him. For Juventus, a sale—even at a minor loss—could be strategic restatement of their financial priorities.
