All you need to know as Juventus prepare for Champions League draw
This evening in Monte Carlo, Juventus will discover their opponents for the upcoming “league phase” of the UEFA Champions League.
The draw, set for 6:00 PM, marks a crucial moment for the Turin club, which aims to advance directly through this new format without having to face the playoffs that proved fatal last season.
The Champions League’s new “league phase” format replaces the traditional group stage with a single large group where each team will play a set of matches against eight different opponents.
Juventus will face two teams from each of the four seeded pots, including their own, in home-and-away matches. One important rule is that, in this initial phase, teams from the same country cannot be drawn against each other, avoiding domestic derbies early on.
The first pot is undoubtedly the toughest, featuring heavyweights like Barcelona, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid. The only team considered somewhat more approachable is Borussia Dortmund.
Juventus, placed in the second pot along with Atalanta, could face formidable opponents such as Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, both known for their unpredictability and strength.

The third pot includes notable teams like Tottenham, Napoli, and Ajax, while the fourth pot offers a mixed bag that could greatly influence Juventus’s chances.
Possible fourth-pot opponents range from the challenging Newcastle to smaller clubs like Pafos from Cyprus or Kairat Almaty from Kazakhstan, which would also involve a long-distance trip.
Other potential draws include Galatasaray, Monaco, Athletic Bilbao, and Copenhagen.
The draw will be live from 6:00 PM, setting the stage for Juventus’s path in the new Champions League format.
