Vlahovic struggles continue: A challenging summer for the Juventus striker
Dusan Vlahovic’s summer has been anything but smooth, as the Juventus striker has found it difficult to make an impact, both in Euro 2024 and in the pre-season friendlies with his club.
Despite scoring 18 goals last season, including the decisive one in Juventus’ Coppa Italia triumph, Vlahovic has yet to find his form under new coach Thiago Motta.
The Serbian forward remains a key figure in Motta’s 4-2-3-1 formation, but his performances so far have been inconsistent, capping off a lackluster summer.
Euro 2024 Disappointment
Vlahovic’s European Championship campaign with Serbia was underwhelming. He started against England and Slovenia but was benched for most of the crucial match against Denmark, playing only 23 minutes.
His tournament ended without a single goal or assist in 177 minutes of play—a disappointing return for a player expected to shine on the continental stage.
Pre-Season Struggles with Juventus
After a short post-Euro break, Vlahovic returned in time for Juventus’ pre-season camp in Herzogenaurach, where he participated in the first friendly against Nuremberg. However, the match saw him miss a penalty.
He did convert a penalty in the following game against Brest in Pescara, but failed to score in subsequent matches against Juventus Next Gen and Atletico Madrid, including missing a clear chance against the latter.
These performances highlight a period of struggle for the Serbian striker, who seems to have lost the sharpness that defined his previous seasons.
As Juventus gears up for their upcoming match against Como, Vlahovic will need to regain his form quickly.
