Vlahovic’s night from the bench to the spotlight between celebration and criticism

At Como, it felt like two different games were being played  one on the pitch, where Juventus secured a 2-1 victory, and another on the bench, where the main protagonist was Dusan Vlahovic.

Despite not stepping onto the field, he was under the spotlight more than many of the players in action. With each passing minute, as the final whistle approached and Juve struggled, attention on the “Vlahovic case” intensified.

according to Ilbianconero, the decisive moment came in the 75th minute when Conceição was brought on, using up all three substitution slots for Thiago Motta. From that moment on, the biggest news from the Sinigaglia Stadium was clear: Vlahovic remained on the bench for the entire match.

Vlahovic briefly headed to the locker room before the final whistle but quickly returned to the bench. There were no signs of protest against the coach’s decision.

In fact, Motta later praised his attitude, highlighting that Vlahovic was the first to celebrate with Kolo Muani after his goal. From this perspective, the Serbian’s behavior was exemplary.

Even though cameras caught him looking tense and uneasy at times, Vlahovic appeared fully engaged with the team and the season. This was further evident in his conversation with goalkeeper Mattia Perin, as captured by DAZN’s lip-reading analysis:

“I don’t understand Gatti, he doesn’t watch the man. We conceded that play in the second half… A long ball, and he watches the ball instead. What are you doing? Watch the ball, use your body, otherwise, it becomes a yellow card.”

It was a criticism directed at his teammate and close friend Federico Gatti, with whom he has even spent vacations in the past. Regardless of the specifics, this reaction should be seen as a positive sign Vlahovic is not distancing himself from the group. On the contrary, he remains fully involved in his own way, even if, for now, it’s from the sidelines.
