Juventus are reportedly considering a player-swap deal to secure the signing of Nuno Tavares from Lazio, with youngster Samuel Mbangula potentially being included in the package.
Head coach Igor Tudor is keen to reunite with Tavares, having previously worked with the Portuguese left-back at Olympique Marseille.
Their successful partnership in Ligue 1 has convinced Tudor that Tavares could be the ideal addition to Juventus’ squad as they plan for the new season.
Tavares had a strong season on loan at Lazio from Arsenal, leading to a permanent move to the Rome based club.
His performances in Serie A, especially his pace and attacking instincts down the left flank, have caught the attention of top sides including the Bianconeri.
Tudor values players who already understand his tactical style, and Tavares fits that profile perfectly. His ability to adapt quickly and contribute both defensively and offensively makes him an attractive target.
Although Lazio only recently signed Tavares permanently, they are open to selling him but only for the right offer.
Juventus are preparing an approach and could include 20-year-old winger Samuel Mbangula in the deal to reduce the transfer fee and sweeten negotiations.
Mbangula is regarded as one of the promising talents at Juventus and has already gained experience with the U23 team. Lazio, known for nurturing young players, may view this as a win-win opportunity.
Juventus are backing Tudor by trying to bring in players who suit his system and philosophy. Tavares, who knows exactly what Tudor expects from his full-backs, would be an immediate tactical fit.
His previous success under Tudor at Marseille is a strong indicator that he could thrive again in Turin.
With the transfer window still open, Juventus are expected to push ahead with discussions in the coming weeks.
A potential player-plus-cash deal involving Mbangula could be the key to unlocking the transfer, especially as Lazio are unwilling to let Tavares leave for a cut-price fee.
If all goes well, the Bianconeri might soon secure a dynamic reinforcement for their defense — one already familiar with the coach’s playbook.
