Weston McKennie’s future at Juventus is once again under the spotlight, with less than a year remaining on his current deal and negotiations over an extension at a complete standstill.

The American midfielder, one of the Bianconeri’s consistent performers in recent seasons, finds himself in familiar territory as uncertainty looms over his next career step. This is not the first time McKennie’s position in Turin has been questioned.

Just a year ago, when Thiago Motta was still on the Juventus bench, the 26-year-old appeared to be on the verge of departure—training away from the main group and seemingly preparing for an exit.

Instead, a sudden change of heart saw him reintegrated into the squad, where he became one of the coach’s most-used players.

During the 2024/25 season, McKennie showcased remarkable versatility, operating as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, false nine, and even as a full-back.

His tactical adaptability, coupled with consistent performances, made him an invaluable asset. However, despite his contributions, Juventus have yet to secure his long-term future.

His current contract expires on 30 June 2026, and while there had been a plan to extend it until 2028 with an option for a further year, discussions have stalled.

No agreement has been reached, and the renewal process has effectively ground to a halt. However, No formal offers have arrived for McKennie so far, but interest is building. Clubs from the Bundesliga, Premier League, and Turkey’s Süper Lig are said to be monitoring the situation.

There is also a possibility—albeit still speculative—that he could remain in Serie A, with Roma reportedly keeping a close eye on developments.

For now, McKennie remains a key figure in Juventus’ squad, but unless talks resume, the prospect of him leaving Turin before the end of his contract cannot be ruled out.
