Juventus kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 2-2 draw against Reggiana at home, with standout moments from Jonathan David and Dusan Vlahovic, despite some defensive lapses and underwhelming performances from a few regulars.

The friendly match offered fans a first look at new signings, returning players, and squad rotation. While the final score isn’t the main focus in these early-season outings, individual performances stood out — both positively and negatively.

Top Performers

Gleison Bremer: Back in action after 304 days sidelined with a knee injury, Bremer brought composure and control to the defense. His tackles were timely and confident, reminding fans of his importance to the backline.

Jonathan David: Making his Juventus debut, David showed sharp technical ability and vision. Though he didn’t find the net, he linked up impressively with teammates, particularly Conceição, and played with maturity and intelligence.

Conceição: Opened the scoring for Juventus after a slick combination with David. Despite starting pre-season later than others, he looked physically fit and full of energy.

Dusan Vlahovic: Came off the bench and immediately made an impact with a well-placed goal inside the box. A classic poacher’s finish, and perhaps a message to potential suitors amid ongoing transfer speculation.

Underwhelming Performances

Pierre Kalulu: A misplaced pass gifted Reggiana a goal. While it’s early days in pre-season, such errors need to be ironed out quickly.

Teun Koopmeiners: Struggled to impose himself in midfield. Lacked urgency and rarely took control of the game — a concerning sign ahead of the new season.

Filip Kostić: Still appears off-pace and predictable on the left flank. His decision-making and execution suggest he may be entering the twilight of his career.

Nico Gonzalez: Tripped over the ball during a dribbling attempt in the first half — a symbolic moment reflecting his inconsistent form from last season.

Daniele Rugani: Lost his marker on Reggiana’s second goal, allowing Gondo a free header to equalize.

Tiago Djaló: Looked off the pace and disconnected from the rhythm of the match.

Lloyd Kelly: Unconvincing in one-on-one situations, especially near the penalty area, exposing Juventus’ defensive vulnerabilities.

Igor Tudor made sweeping changes in the second half, but the team’s tempo and quality dropped noticeably.

Despite the draw, Juventus fans can take positives from David’s debut and Bremer’s return. Still, defensive issues and lack of midfield creativity are areas to watch closely as pre-season continues.
