Everton looking into signing Juventus star with £30m offer on the table

Everton are considering a bold move for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, with reports suggesting the club is preparing a £30m-plus offer for the Brazilian international, just a year after his switch to Italy.

Luiz, 27, joined Juventus from Aston Villa for £42.5m in 2024 but has struggled to make an impact, starting only three league matches during the 2024/25 season.

With just 19 appearances overall most from the bench Juve are now open to offloading him, even at a loss.

Everton are “investigating” a potential deal, though they face stiff competition from West Ham United.

The Hammers reportedly want Luiz on an initial loan deal valued just over £8m, with an option to buy for £22–26m based on his performances.

Meanwhile, Everton manager David Moyes has already welcomed three new signings this summer. Among them, goalkeeper Mark Travers joined for £4m from Bournemouth and will now challenge Jordan Pickford for the No. 1 spot.

Thierno Barry also joined the club in what is seen as one of the more exciting additions at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Douglas Luiz’s move to Juventus was met with high expectations, but the former Aston Villa star couldn’t replicate his Premier League form in Serie A.

Last season, he failed to register a single goal or assist, averaging just 27 touches and 19.4 accurate passes per game.

Despite those underwhelming numbers, Everton are hoping Luiz can rediscover the spark he had in England.

During the 2023/24 campaign with Aston Villa, he recorded 20 goal contributions across all competitions and played a vital role under manager Unai Emery.

There was once speculation linking Luiz to top clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City. While his stock has since fallen, Everton believe that a return to the Premier League could reignite his form.

For Moyes and the Toffees, the deal could be a calculated risk one that may pay off big if Luiz can return to his previous levels.

As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on Juventus and whether they’ll lower their demands, particularly with multiple Premier League clubs circling.
