Dusan Vlahović took to the field yesterday at the Continassa, headlining Juventus’s 2‑2 friendly draw with Reggiana by quickly scoring early in the second half.

Though he put in a glimmer of leadership with that goal, the 25‑year‑old Serbian striker now finds himself at the center of a broader off‑pitch dilemma at the club.

Despite returning from his World Cup break and remaining in the squad for their training camp in Herzogenaurach, Vlahović’s future at Juventus looks bleak.

His salary — set to rise to approximately €12 million net for the 2025‑26 season, the highest in Serie A — is now incompatible with the club’s revised wage structure.

Juventus insiders have made it clear: they would rather absorb a modest loss than shoulder this financial burden.

According to general manager Damien Comolli, Juventus are in active dialogue with Vlahović’s camp. The message is unequivocal: a transfer is possible, but only for a suitable offer — and so far, none has been received that satisfies the club’s criteria,.

The club that fits that bill, for now at least, is AC Milan, where former Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri wants to reunite with his former striker. While Milan has opened talks, everything hinges on the economics.

Juventus reportedly values Vlahović at €20–25 million, though success is not guaranteed until PSG releases him permanently.

Milan proposed including Malick Thiaw — a defensive profile better aligned with Tudor’s system — to reduce cash outlay, but Juventus has so far declined the player-plus-cash route.

Salary disparities remain a major hurdle: Vlahović earns €12 m per year, whereas Milan’s highest earner makes less than half that, and the club has no appetite to match such wages without financial support from Juventus.

Discussions include possible severance or payment-sharing models, but no agreement has yet been struck.

Meanwhile, Juventus continues their campaign for a younger, more dynamic front line under manager Igor Tudor — a vision that places minimal emphasis on Vlahović’s traditional #9 style.

The club has already signaled preference for Jonathan David and Randal Kolo Muani, viewing them as core components of Tudor’s attack; as a result, Vlahović’s future has shifted from starter to surplus option.

With the club eager to offload his salary burden before Serie A’s official kick‑off, and Milan still calibrating its financial posture, the outcome remains uncertain. But only a formal, financially feasible offer from Milan — or elsewhere — is likely to break the deadlock.

Juventus aims to ensure that if Vlahović remains this season, it will be the end of the line. Meanwhile, Vlahović must weigh whether he is willing to move for a smaller role, or if a clear exit is the best option for both parties.
