Juventus set to bid for Gyokeres despite release clause

Juventus are reportedly ready to make a major move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, despite his €100 million release clause.

The Bianconeri are preparing a bid worth €70 million, including bonuses, as they aim to bring the prolific Swedish forward to Turin.

Gyokeres has been one of Europe’s most lethal strikers over the past two seasons. The 26-year-old has scored an astonishing 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting, including 54 goals and 13 assists in the 2024–25 campaign alone. His performances have naturally drawn interest from top clubs across the continent.

While Premier League sides such as Manchester United and Arsenal have shown interest, Juventus appear to be in pole position.

Gyokeres reportedly isn’t interested in a move to United due to their lack of European football, and Arsenal are prioritizing RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko instead.

This has opened the door for Juventus, who are now accelerating their pursuit of the striker.

Although Gyokeres’ current contract includes a €100 million release clause, sources suggest Sporting may be willing to negotiate. A €60 million base fee plus €10 million in add-ons could be enough to strike a deal   though Sporting president Frederico Varandas has publicly denied any such flexibility.

Still, Juventus remain optimistic that an offer close to €70 million will be accepted. The bid is expected to be made in the coming days.

Landing Gyokeres would be a major coup for new manager Igor Tudor, who is looking to reshape the attack and build a team capable of competing for major honors.

With uncertainty around the future of several Juventus forwards, the Swedish striker could become the centerpiece of their new-look front line.

If the deal goes through, Gyokeres would join the long list of high-profile attackers to wear the black and white stripes  and bring with him goals, power, and a clinical edge Juventus desperately need.
