Chelsea humiliate Juve and hand them first Champions League loss

Juventus have lost for the first time in the Champions League this season against Chelsea. The Blues dominated on Tuesday evening and won 4-0 at Stamford Bridge. Juventus now drop to 2nd place in group H. Max Statman gives you a quick breakdown and player ratings.
Chelsea started the first half aggresively. Chilwell gave a through ball on Hudson-Odoi, but he couldnt’t reach a Chelsea player in front of goal. James tried to suprise Szczęsny by shooting a free-kick directly on goal from an unconventional spot, but the Polish goalkeeper reacted well. Chelsea took the lead in the 25th minute. Rüdiger brought down a corner, which he did with his hand, and Chalobah volleyed it in. The goal stood after a VAR check.
Juventus got their opportunity to level the game. Locatelli gave a fantastic pass on Morata, who flicked it over Mendy. Thiago Silva made an amazing clearence on the goalline and prevented the 1-1. Chelsea then tried to double their lead before halftime. Szczęsny made a fantastic save on a volley by James and Bonucci made a good block before Hudson-Odoi could shoot.

Chelsea continued where they left off in the first half. Szczęsny saved a header by Silva. Then Bentancur gave away possesion, but Chelsea failed to make something out of it. Eventually the second Chelsea goal came 10 minutes into the second half. Chilwell crossed it into Juve’s box, De Ligt tried to head it away, but it fell to James, who smashed it behind Szczęsny. The humiliation was completed 3 minutes later. Loftus-Cheek dribbled past De Ligt and gave it to Hudson-Odoi, who made no mistake from close by.

McKennie tested Mendy with a volley from outside the box, but Chelsea’s goalkeeper saved his attempt. Szczęsny prevented Chelsea’s 4th goal when he made a great save in a 1 vs.1 against Ziyech. That 4th goal still came in extra time. Weston McKennie misjugded a pass, Ziyech crossed the ball to Werner, who tapped it in.
The only bright spot tonight was Koni de Winter making his Champions League debut for Juventus.
