Nicolò Zaniolo’s name always returns to the headlines whenever the transfer window opens. More than often, he is linked to Juventus. This summer was no exception. Journalist Fabiana della Valle explains the situation to Max Statman.

Last week, the name of Roma starboy Nicolò Zaniolo was once again linked to Juventus. With Di Maria out for an unknown amount of time and Chiesa still absent, La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Fabiana della Valle suggested that Juventus could go back to Roma for Zaniolo. “Fortunately, Di Maria’s injury is less serious”, Della Valle says. “But Juventus would also take Zaniolo to replace Di Maria next year, because El Fideo only has a one-year-contract with the Bianconeri.”

Difficult deal

Della Vella thinks the arrival of the Italian is very difficult at the moment without any outgoings. There’s also other positions that require reinforcements. “I think Zaniolo is a player Juventus like a lot and the club had the idea to make a final attempt in the last days of August, but the situation is now complicated because Juve have to get a striker first.”

Money talks

As reported before, Juventus already agreed personal terms with Zaniolo. A four-year-contract with a €4-4.5 million salary was ready for the Conference League winner, Della Valle confirms. The Gazzetta journalist also says Juventus are willing to either send a player to Roma to get the deal done, or go for a loan deal with the right for redemption that would be around €30-40 million.

Zaniolo’s current contract at Roma ends in 2024. Could he come to Turin when his contract with the Giallorossi ends? “It’s difficult to say now”, Della Valle answers. “It depends on many things. If he doesn’t leave this summer, he could choose to renew and remain in Rome, but it’s not impossible.”
